April is Cesarean Awareness Month!

The Cesarean Awareness Ribbon debuted in April of 2004 for Cesarean Awareness Month. The burgundy color of the ribbons represents birth and the wearing of the ribbon upside down symbolizes the state of distress many pregnant women find themselves in when their birthing choices are limited. The loop of the inverted ribbon represents a pregnant belly and the tails are the arms of a woman outstretched in a cry for help.

ICAN Subscriptions Are Reduced During Cesarean Awareness Month!

During April, ICAN subscriptions are reduced to $25 for basic subscribers and $50 for professionals. If you are up for renewal, or you would like to subscribe to ICAN for the first time, now is a great opportunity to take advantage of these discounted rates!

ICAN encourages you to support our local chapter in a special way by topping off your donations to the regular subscription amounts, $30 for basic subscriptions or $60 for professional subscriptions.

~ Healing From a Cesarean ~

A cesarean section is major abdominal surgery. While some women heal quickly after surgical birth, other moms find that physical (and/or emotional) recovery takes many weeks or months - and in some cases, several years. Women's feelings about their cesareans range from happiness to depression to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Each woman heals and grows into her new role as a mother at her own pace and it is important not to put time limits on this process. Come & join us for information on how to care for yourself after a cesarean and for support on your healing journey.

~ Birth Trauma & Its Effects on Mothers ~

Join us for an open forum discussion on birth trauma. This is a safe space for women who are seeking a supportive environment to process a traumatic or disappointing birth experience. Moms are welcome to share their birth stories if they choose to.
